History

Artisan Partners was founded in 1994 by Andrew and Carlene Ziegler. At the time two important trends were taking hold in the market. Open architecture investment platforms were giving investors virtually unrestricted access to the best investment managers and investors were becoming increasingly willing to follow high quality investment talent from one firm to another. Together those trends provided the founders with the opportunity to develop a firm focused on attracting high caliber investment professionals that have the support of a fully resourced operational capability.
